TUNAL GROUP × JJ Ologun

01 / THE PROMOTION. THE SHARED PROJECT.

With Tunal Group, aiming further.

The collaboration, through the fighter’s eyes.

Contacted through Instagram, JJ was drawn to Tunal Group’s videos, event production and opportunities for fighters to challenge for belts. He saw a partner for developing his international career.

He values the new opportunities, advice on presenting himself on a world stage and a team that treats him like family. His conversations with Mike Archer particularly stood out.

Together, he wants to develop his professional record, pursue a regional belt and work towards major opportunities in Las Vegas or Saudi Arabia: goals he hopes to build towards with Tunal.

HIS AMBITION

Earn his place through his own work, represent Japan and his Nigerian roots, and inspire people looking for their own path.

Partner with Tunal Group
  1. International ambition

Las Vegas and Saudi Arabia are the horizons JJ wants to work towards with Tunal.

  2. Work and trust

He values the team’s advice, the range of opportunities and the family feeling of its support.

  3. A journey to share

Familiar to some Japanese viewers since childhood, he wants to show the journey towards his dream of becoming a champion.

02 / BEHIND THE GLOVES

A childhood in Japan. A path of his own.

JJ grew up in Japan with three younger sisters. He describes a peaceful childhood, Japanese schooling and a deep attachment to his mother’s country. Studying abroad later broadened his horizons. He eventually left university to commit to boxing.

His father first took him to a gym at around seven. He enjoyed learning to punch and defend himself, but his first sparring session also showed him the fear and difficulty of the ring. It was the beginning of a relationship with the sport that he would develop on his own terms.

Coming from a family familiar to Japanese audiences, JJ wants to earn respect through his own efforts. Boxing gives him direction, discipline and a dream to pursue. Now financially independent, he wants to take responsibility for his choices and show what he can achieve for himself.

03 / THE JOURNEY

The jab, the feet and the preparation.

JJ reports no amateur bouts: his father taught him the early fundamentals. He remembers an emotionally demanding professional debut in a venue filled with his opponent’s supporters, where handling his emotions was part of the challenge.

His defeat in the Philippines remains a turning point. It led him to reconsider his training, food and sleep. His lesson was to arrive prepared and take responsibility for everything that happens before the opening round.

An orthodox boxer, he puts the jab and footwork at the centre of his approach. Speed, repetition and sustaining his rhythm over the rounds are priorities. When he is well prepared, he also enjoys smiling and having fun in the ring: a way to let people see the work he has put into training.
