Early Life and Beginnings in Boxing

Born in Iğdır, Turkey, Tarkan Kanyar started boxing at the age of 8 under the guidance of his longtime coach, Taner Demirci. Inspired by his uncle Savaş Kaya, a former national boxer with an impressive record, Tarkan began training by his side and quickly fell in love with the sport. His uncle’s success and discipline became a model for him during his formative years.

Growing up was not easy for Tarkan. He had to balance school, training, and work at a local coffeehouse to help support his family during financially difficult times. Despite the hardships, his dedication to boxing never wavered. With passion and perseverance, he turned every challenge into fuel for success.

Amateur Success and Milestones

Over his 18-year boxing journey, Tarkan achieved major national recognition. He is a three-time Turkish national champion and a three-time national silver medalist. His standout moment in amateur boxing was a final match against his own brother—also a former national team member and Fenerbahçe athlete. Sharing the ring with his sibling in a championship bout was a proud and unforgettable memory.

Transition to Professional Boxing

Tarkan transitioned to the professional ranks in 2024, under the guidance of Ali Hagnazari and the Tunal Academy team. Their structured vision, professionalism, and international reach offered the platform he needed to take his career to the next level. Tarkan made his professional debut in Greece, proudly representing Turkey and raising the national flag high in victory.

Since then, he has remained undefeated in the professional ranks with 2 wins, including 1 by knockout. Every fight brings him closer to his dream: to compete on the world’s biggest stages, win the WBC belt, and become a world champion.
